Computer Science Resume

There are a lot of different computer science positions available to qualified individuals. To find a great computer science position it will be necessary to create a computer science resume that communicates to potential employers why specific skills and abilities make you the best candidate for the computer science position you are applying for. You should put the time and effort into creating a great computer science resume since it is the first impression you will be making on potential employers.
Previous Work Experience
Employers expect to see applicants who have previous work experience that has familiarized them with the kinds of job functions that the position in question will require. If you have previous work experience that is relevant to the position you are applying for, it will be in your best interest to include it in this section of your computer science resume. You should also include a short description of the requirements and responsibilities of your previous work experience. Include any certifications earned from those conferences, such as MCSE, MCSA, Comp TIA A+, and any other relevant certifications.
Technical Skills / Computer Knowledge
Considering the wide array of technical skills and other computer-related knowledge that is required for the computer science industry, there is an endless amount of skills and abilities employers could potentially be looking for in their applicants. For this reason, it is important that you include a list of your technical skills and computer-related knowledge that you have either learned in college, been required to use in past jobs, or have taught yourself.
Be Specific When Listing Skills
Some information you should mention in this section includes operating systems you are familiar with, such as Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Unix as well as programming languages that you can code in, such as C++, Java, Visual Basic, JavaScript and PHP. Also, detail any other job-specific software or applications that could be relevant to the position in question, such as, Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, MATLAB, Microsoft Office, VMWare, and any others.
While it can be tempting to include every single piece of information you can think of in your computer science resume, it is important to limit the information you will be including to special items of interest to potential employers.
