It is safe to say that the very lowest degree that an electrical engineer could hold would be a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with major coursework in Electrical Engineering (EE). Depending on the scope of the position being applied for, a Master’s Degree or PhD may also be required. Because an engineer needs to have at least a B.S. to earn the right to be called an engineer, an applicant with any degree such as an A.S., or technical degree from a two year tech school would not be qualified for anything less than tech support under the supervision of an engineer.
With such an emphasis on renewable energy, electrical engineering is evolving on a day to day basis. It is a field of study/work that is taking on new meanings as the fuel used to manufacture electricity is changing, and the manufacturing process of electricity is getting more technologically advanced.
