In clinical healthcare, that is the largest workforce. The objective statement is the first place an individual seeking entry level placement in nursing would have to highlight what type of nursing position being sought. For instance, a nurse looking for work in a hospital might say, “Seeking a position in a busy emergency room to utilize my expertise in ER procedures.” Whereas a labor and delivery nurse might have an objective statement that reads, “Seeking a position as a labor and delivery nurse while working towards becoming a licensed nurse practitioner.”
Entry Level Nurse Resume – Qualifications and Skills
A nurse should always be dedicated to patient care. Qualifications and skills should include having great communication skills, detail oriented, empathetic, analytical, and any other qualities that would make for a great nurse. These qualifications can also include skills learned in the course of education or on a previous job. For instance, an entry level nurse might excel in patient charting, medical notation, and be certified in incubation. Professional Experience for an Entry Level Nurse Resume
An entry level nurse is usually fresh out of college, but there are also times that nurses move or choose to go from a hospital setting to private practice or vice versa. When listing professional experience, always start with the most recent employment citing location, position held and dates of employment. Immediately following each place of employment, specific responsibilities should be noted. For instance, patient charting, part of treatment assessment team, injections, taking vitals, and any other duties that were part of the job should be listed. Recent nursing graduates should list any practical (clinical) experience that was part of their educational training.
Education Requirements for an Entry Level Nurse Resume
Just as there are a multitude of nursing specializations, there would also be a great number of educational requirements that can be listed on an entry level nurse resume. For example, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) only needs two years of post secondary education in most cases, while a registered nurse usually holds a Bachelor’s in Science, School of Nursing. Then there are specializations and certifications to be listed. Each state has specific educational requirements which can be found on the state’s Department of Rules and Regulations or the State Board of Licensure. A nurse certified in intubation would have taken appropriate coursework that should be cited, and any continuing courses for re-licensure should be listed as well, beginning with the most recent degree or certificate.
