Entry Level Sales Resume
|
Writing a resume for an entry level sales job will vary depending on the types of products or intangible goods are being referred to. For instance, an entry level sales resume for a position as a clerk in a department store may require nothing more than a high school diploma and perhaps some previous experience in retail sales. However, a job selling pharmaceutical products may require the person to have a Doctorate degree in pharmacy. As a result, each type of entry level sales resume will be formatted to suit the type of business.
Entry Level Sales Resume – Objective Statement
An effective objective statement would be one that grabs the interest of the reviewer to entice them to read more of the resume. In terms of an entry level sales resume, it should drive home the fact that the job seeker is well qualified to close that sale. Perhaps an objective statement would read, “To obtain a position utilizing my background in marketing and sales.” Or, it could state that “Seeking a position with room for advancement in a marketing firm that specializes in selling advertising copy for printed media.”
Entry Level Sales Resume – Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications for an effective entry level sales resume would effectively utilize buzz words such as ‘market driven, marketing trends, closing or closer, and profit or profitability.’ An example of skills or qualifications on a sales resume might be “up on marketing trends in video games, excellent closer and/or having a keen awareness on the bottom line for profitability.” Skills could also be personality traits that make a person ideal for a job in sales, such as “energetic and enthusiastic, upbeat, persistent and having great communication skills.” Qualifications and skills are in list format which can be bulleted if preferred.
Professional Experience for an Entry Level Sales Resume
Professional experience is listed in reverse chronological order, so the current or most recent job would be listed first. Each job is listed with the company name and location by city and state, the position held, and dates of employment. Then, specific responsibilities will be given in list format, with or without bullet points. As an example, a pharmaceutical sales rep might list responsible for all merchandising of products in the states of Florida, Georgia and Alabama; contact customers in person, by phone, fax and email; keeping travel expense log, and things of that nature. Each job will have its own sets of responsibilities, some of which may be the same from job to job.
Education Requirements for an Entry Level Sales Resume
Educational requirements will automatically vary from job to job. State and federal rules and regulations may require a pharmaceutical rep to be a licensed and registered pharmacist with a Pharm.D. degree, whereas a sales clerk wishing to obtain a position at the jewelry counter at Sears may only necessitate the job applicant to have a high school diploma. Beginning with the highest level of education, each degree is listed in reverse order. The school attended, course of study, degree or certificate obtained and dates attended should be listed with each educational institution.
A resume of this type will need to be tailored to the position being sought. There are several entry level sales resume samples online that can help individuals seeking jobs to format a resume geared toward success. Find one that is closest to the type of products or goods being sold, and use it as a reference when writing your resume.
