Finance Graduate Resume
|
Most often a finance graduate resume will follow the confines of an entry level resume. This person will probably have no professional experience in the field of finance other than practical experience as part of coursework in grad school. Because of a lack of experience, the resume will need to focus heavily on personal assets in other areas such as qualifications and skills along with current knowledge of market trends. It is possible to write a graduate resume to outshine all others and gain notice, but special care must be taken to place special emphasis on strengths, and keep focus away from experience.
Finance Graduate Resume– Objective Statement
Since there are only perhaps one or two lines that can be used to effectively state the purpose of seeking employment, the finance graduate needs to carefully write his or her goals using buzz words if possible. Perhaps the objective statement could read, “Energetic and goal oriented finance graduate seeking an entry level position in commercial lending; proficient in recent legislation that provides lending incentives to bolster the market.”
Finance Graduate Resume– Qualifications and Skills
A finance graduate would, by nature, need to have strong mathematical and analytical skills. These should be among the qualifications listed here. Also, finance requires a person to be highly organized, excellent in time management and would also require the individual to have exceptional communication skills. Perhaps the candidate is also proficient in spreadsheets and data bases. Emphasizing these skills would make good use of buzz words to capture the interest of the person reviewing the resume.
Professional Experience for a Finance Graduate Resume
While a recent graduate may not have any professional experience in finance, any employment dealing with facts or figures could be utilized. Also, if the person seeking employment had any internship, practical experience or research as part of their educational tenure, it could be denoted as ‘professional,’ in that it was under the tutelage of a skilled professional. Begin by listing the most recent place of employment with the name and location of the company, followed by any specific tasks that were pertinent to the job. For example, perhaps a finance graduate was assigned the responsibility of watching the DOW for market trends to make future predictions. Any experience in the field of finance should be listed as clearly, and accurately as possible.
Education Requirements for a Finance Graduate Resume
There are so many areas of finance that it is quite difficult to say what level of education any one company will require of its associates. While one firm may require and M.B.A., another may require a B.S. in math with an emphasis on finance, while yet another corporation may be looking for a PhD. Once it has been determined that educational requirements have been met, and a candidate is ready to present that company with a resume, list all educational experiences from the highest degree achieved all the way back, and including the high school diploma. Again, this is in reverse chronological order and would necessitate the names of academic institutions, the dates the degrees were conferred and the location of the campuses.
In combination with a well written objective statement and good set of skills, a good finance graduate resume can be well received from even the newest of graduates. The world of finance may be a difficult one to enter, but once this first obstacle is overcome any future career changes will be easier to negotiate. There are finance graduate resume samples on this site that can assist recent graduates in crafting an effective document.
