Carole Fielding Student Grants
Carole Fielding was an avid member of the University Film and Video Association (UFVA) who devoted several years of her life to promoting the association and its goals. Her husband was the president of the University Film & Video Association, and she is fondly remembered as one of the most popular volunteers for the association. Since her death, the UFVA has awarded many bursaries in her honor for over the past twenty years to students of film and video production.
Who is Eligible to Apply
In order to apply for this award, applicants must be currently enrolled in a film and video production course at an accredited university or college in the US. In addition, the application must have the support and sponsorship of a faculty member who is an active member of the University Film and Video Association. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply, and production proposals are accepted for five different categories.
Requirements for Application
Students who are applying for Carole Fielding student grants must submit a resume, project description, a budget and a statement by the sponsoring UFVA member. Those students applying for research funding must also submit information regarding the methodology, and a statement which indicates any relationship which the research has to any previously done in the field. Production applicants must also submit a story board and narrative, to outline the end product of their project.
Type of Awards Available
The awards available through Carole Fielding student grants are designed for both production and research projects. Research based projects may be granted up to $1,000 for the theoretical or critical study of television, video and film. Applicants who are seeking production grants may be awarded up to $4,000 in one of five categories: animation, new media, documentary, animation or narrative. This grant competition is designed to help the very best film and video students to achieve their production and research goals and continue their education.
Responsibility of Award Winners
Carole Fielding student grants winners have a few requirements to meet after the award has been made. Winners must present their work at a University Film & Video Association conference, and the student is responsible for the costs of attending. Their work must also include the UFVA in the production credits. Also, the association retains the rights to publish any work they have funded in their journals, on their website or at conferences.
These grants are designed to help student to achieve their education goals and to pursue a career in film or television. With the increased costs of education, bursaries are necessary in order to fund their research or production projects, as well as to handle the increase costs of going to school
