New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital Pediatric Surgical Fellowship
This training program started in 1975 and has been approved by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education/Residency Review Committee. The surgical fellowships offer successful residents a two-year training program in the diagnosis and management of pediatric surgical cases. The program aims to develop future leaders in pediatric surgery through an emphasis on increasing responsibility as the program progresses. The Pediatric Surgery Fellow is responsible for the surgical service offered to patients and its administrative organization.
Johns Hopkins Acute Care Surgical Fellowships
The Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital is primarily designed to expose selected fellows to the various clinical aspects of emergency surgery. It has evolved into a training program for surgeons so that they can meet the increasing demand for better emergency surgical treatment nationally. The program runs for a year and requires that the resident be certified in general surgery. The trauma population at the adult trauma center of the hospital provides a rich exposure to operative trauma management in addition to the treatment of a broad spectrum of routine and emergency surgical cases.
Johns Hopkins Plastic Surgical Fellowships
This program trains surgical residents in all aspects of plastic surgery and serves as a foundation for an academic career in plastic surgery. The program which runs for two years trains a total of three residents annually. Two of the residents are chosen from their medical schools through the aid of the Resident Matching Program. The program provides clinical rotations at several centers including the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the Raymond M. Curtis Hand Rehabilitation Center.
University of Washington Fellowship in Trauma & Burn Research
This program of the department of surgery of UW offers U.S. citizens who have an MD or a PhD degree (in addition to a strong interest in the cellular, physiologic, or molecular response to sepsis, injury or surgical stress), a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the field of applied and translational laboratory research. The fellowship provides hands on experience with the research methodologies associated with trauma, burns and sepsis in addition to preparing them for an academic surgical career. The program particularly encourages minorities, veterans, women and individuals with disabilities to apply.
