As the world shrinks and more and more people are using computers in their every-day lives the need for information technology experts grows. However, the amount of people who are well trained in Information technology has gone through the roof. It has become an extremely competitive market place and for this reason you need to make sure that you put together a really professional Information Technology Resume.
You should start off your resume with an objective which captures the imagination. Try to show your passion, your understanding of the industry and you understanding of the job position you are applying for. You should carefully read the job description before you write this section and make sure that your objective falls in line with this job. You should also make sure to explain that you want to join a progressive company, and try to give the impression that you have done your homework and you understand both the ethos and direction of this company.
You should follow this section of your resume with a bullet pointed list of your skills, in the form of a summary. You can include all sorts in this, including your relevant qualifications, and all of your abilities in the world of Information Technology. This section is designed so that an employer can take a quick look at the resume and immediately see whether or not you are vaguely suitable for the role. Because of this you need to make absolutely sure that you have included everything that you feel qualifies you to do this job.
The next section of your Information Technology Resume should focus on your career so far. Start off with your current position and work backwards from there, taking you back to your full time education. Be sure to provide as much information as you can about those roles which are relevant to your current application, which means spelling out what duties you were expected to carry out, and what you achieved and how you managed to further the company through your work. Don’t do this for all of your positions though. If you have worked in another industry, then you should just give the barest of details for these positions.
Follow your professional experience with a section devoted to your education. This again should run backwards starting with your most recent qualification and it should work back to your High School results. With this section you again need to focus your attentions on the qualifications you have gained which relate directly to your profession, rather than those general qualifications, For example, you should only list your High School grades and give the dates of study, rather than discussing them in further detail. For relevant qualifications, and especially your degree, you should try to break your study down into small chunks and explain in what areas you excelled.
