Information about Immigration
The migration of a resident from one country to another, with an objective of temporary or permanent residency, is also known as immigration. It can be done legally or illegally. People choose going to another country for many reasons, such as work, studies and even for life time settlement. Many foreign students immigrate to the US for study purposes and most of them seek getting a higher education by attending either graduate or undergraduate courses.
Student Visa
Students that want to immigrate to the US need to have a valid student visa. For this, they have to address to the local US embassy in their country, and apply for a study visa and show up for the interview. Getting a student visa for the US is not as difficult as it is to get a permanent residency visa. The permanent residency visa, also known as green card, is not awarded after the first application. However, students that immigrate for studies do not need this type of visa. Everyone knows that illegal immigration is not safe and it is a crime, which can bring after it jail, fines and deportation. Moreover, universities also request applicants to have valid student visas.
Application Process for Immigration
Many students wait for gaining admission before applying for the international student visa. The INS (the Immigration & Naturalization Service) requests foreign students to choose only institutions that are approved by it. Different visas have different application forms. Also, all students needs to pay an application fee, which is non refundable. Before applying for a visa, a passport is needed and it must be valid in order to immigrate to the US. In addition to other requirements, a passport size photograph with a light background, having specifications laid out by the US embassy, is required. Finally, financial resources for supporting the student’s education and accommodation need to be presented as well.
US University Scholarships
There is no country in this world that can provide better education than the United States. American schools and colleges have the most qualified professors, the best educational programs, and atmosphere to synergies learning. For many students, immigrating to the USA and getting a scholarship is their biggest dream. A good score in the GRE/GMAT exam can also result in a 50% scholarship. Moreover, many non-profit organizations and companies have a wide array of scholarships, that are given away either through essay contests, based on the student’s scores, or to students that have excellent knowledge within a certain area of study.
Why Students Come to the US for Studies
It is believed that campus life provides both life experience and friends, which are just as important as the education itself. The lifetime friends and lessons learnt are priceless. As an international student, you can get simple campus jobs with a modest income, in convenient locations. One of the advantages of immigration for studying in US universities is that a student has a large number of courses available. Anyone can opt for the course which they like. This is one of the reasons why students immigrate to the US to study. Additionally, the job opportunities offered by companies in the US are huge, and many universities have contracts with reputable companies through which they grant internships for their students.
