Information about International Student Organization
Every collegesand universitiy campus in the US has an international student organization. This organization is made up of international students from all countries of the world who come together and share cultural information and knowledge. All students are welcome to join.
What is ISO?
The international student organizations (ISO) were formed so that people attending college from different countries could come together, interact socially, learn new cultures, and form lasting friendships. ISO on campus sponsors and participates in different events meant to bring various cultures together in one area. Different ISO groups from other colleges often come together for social gatherings, sporting events, and cultural exchange.
ISO Membership
Anyone can join the international student organization. It is not just international students that comprise the ISO, but students from the US who wish to meet, learn about the different lifestyles, and make friends. Each international student organization has social, political cultural and financial councils that offer events and opportunities to all its members. Members are encouraged to come forth and speak about cultural differences, political views, or any subject that they have an interest in, or questions about. The ISO is a built-in community within the campus.
The ISO Mission
The international student organization mission is to be able to improve understanding and acceptance of different cultures on a multinational level. Interaction between various, different social and economic groups is encouraged. The ISO can also help to ease the transition into college life for students who are unfamiliar with American traditions. Help is available for students who have difficulty adapting to a new lifestyle, and members of the ISO lend a helping hand and offer advice.
Why Join the ISO?
Besides learning about diversified cultures from all areas of the world, lasting friendships can be formed. Students will be able to see for themselves that it doesn’t matter where a person comes from, or how different their lifestyle is. American students can learn from their international college friendships that while the lifestyle and cultures may be new and different to them, the international student can bring new understanding to their way of thinking. The on campus community of the international student organization can bring together and teach new experiences to each and every student
International Student Organization Activities
Numerous activities are planned by the ISO members throughout the college year. Many groups participate in various sporting events or social settings. Each college strives to plan events that will showcase different cultures. Discussions are encouraged between members on a variety of subjects. Whether the topic is music, movies, politics, or homesickness for new students, ISO members are there to help each other out whenever the situation warrants it. This is a close-knit family away from home organization that everyone is encouraged to join.
College life can be a fun and exciting way to begin the journey into adulthood. Joining the international student organization is one way to learn about diversified cultures and help create an understanding of the way other people from different countries live, think, and work.
