Account Coordinator Job Description
|
Account coordinators form a vital part of any organization with a large clientele. The role involves many key responsibilities and can be a support function to any of the departments such as sales, marketing or finance.
Account Coordinator Job Duties:
If you like being involved in sales but without the travel or the challenge of meeting targets, an account coordinator might be a perfect role for you. An account coordinator could be in any or every department in an organization.
Some of the job duties are listed below but may vary according to the department or the industry.
1) Coordinate between account executives/ senior account executives and the clients on new quotations, updating the database, follow up on prospects, repeat orders and follow up on client receivables.
2) Manage the internal automation tools on behalf of the account executives, monitoring sales pipeline.
3) Generate reports for managers/ department heads review.
4) Intra department coordination and updating client/ account executive on status.
5) Coordinate meetings and follow up on the minutes of meeting.
6) Fix appointments with customers.
7) Maintain vendor database/ quotes.
8) Create inventory reports.
9) Meet clients with account executives.
10) Generate basic reports based on internet research.
Account Coordinator Knowledge and Skills:
1) A strong understanding of the products/ services offered by the company. Prior industry experience will be of great advantage.
2) Working knowledge of automation tools such as sales force.
3) Strong communication skills – oral and written. Though not always client facing, a good voice presence is important when following up with a client on phone.
Account Coordinator Educational Qualifications and Experience:
1) A college degree or a diploma.
2) Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook/ Express.
3) Experience of 2 to 3 years is considered ideal preferably with one organization as a coordinator.
4) Any additional certifications on the respective product or the departmental function.
5) Any advanced training in analysis and presentation tools will be of added advantage.
Account Coordinator Salary and Benefits:
1) $15 to $20 per hour is considered industry average. Annual salaries range from $35,000 to $60,000.
2) Account coordinators are in many organizations part of an incentive structure as they are important in bringing follow up sales. An account coordinator could also be rated on several performance indicators for annual/half yearly or quarterly appraisals.
3) Eligibility for other employment benefits such as medical and travel allowance will depend on the individual company policies.
