An accounting clerk performs routine bookkeeping activities that form part of the essential, daily accounting requirements of a company. The data computed by accounting clerks is eventually translated into financial statements, such as quarterly reports or balance sheets that enable a company’s management to interpret its fiscal performance and accordingly make business decisions.

8) Payroll processing.
9) Reconciling accounts.
10) Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements.
11) Generating statistical summary reports.
12) Reporting relevant information to the accounting or operational managers.
Accounting Clerk Knowledge and Skills:
1) A detailed understanding of accounting procedures and practices.
2) Ability to perform calculations quickly and precisely.
3) Data processing and good typing skills.
4) A keen attention to detail is required in order enter data and maintain precise and accurate records.
Accounting Clerk Educational Qualifications and Experience:
1) A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is usually essential, while an Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred. Occasionally, positions require only a high school diploma, if accompanied with experience.
2) Prior accounting experience with bookkeeping or accounts receivable, including internship experience, is favoured, but not always necessary.
