The role of a leasing consultant is smaller than that of real estate consultant as they deal only with leasing and not buying or selling. The job of a leasing consultant is to market residential properties and provide customer service. The job may require them to:
1) Make cold calls to get prospective tenants.
2) Explain on phone or over email about the availability of properties.
3) Understand a prospective tenant’s property needs.
4) Schedule appointments for meeting interested parties.

15) Resolve any issues arising between neighbors sharing a common wall or space.

1) Thorough knowledge of leasing procedures.
2) Excellent documentation skills.
3) Leasing consultants should have knowledge of available properties for rent. They should keep in touch with different localities and keep an eye on properties coming up for rent.
4) The current market rate for different type of property leasing.
5) Excellent sales techniques, preferably basing on customer’s needs.
6) A pre-requisite of good sales technique is the ability to communicate well.
7) Be a good listener.

9) Good numerical ability: the ability to calculate percentages, discounts and proportions.
Leasing Consultant Educational Qualifications and Experience
1) A high school diploma or GED is essential to qualify as a lease consultant.
2) Graduation or MBA in property management leads higher positions within a real estate firm.
3) 1-3 months of experience.
4) Many states do not require leasing consultants to obtain a license.
