Sales jobs are a good choice if you are looking for employment that is always in demand and provides a stable future for your family. While it is true that not every person is cut out for this type of work, it does provide a level of satisfaction that you won't find with many jobs. Your ability to sell yourself and your product are essential to your success. Those in the sales field should have a sincere belief in their product or service, and an ability to create desire in the customer; to make them feel that your offer will solve a problem for them.
Think back for decades, or go forward twenty years from now in to the future. Will sales jobs ever be obsolete? Absolutely not. People will always be in the market to purchase something, whether it is the newest computer, the most high-tech television set, or a new car. Sales jobs are some of the most stable you will find in any industry, no matter where you look.
Characteristics you often find in individuals with sales jobs are self motivation and the ability to manage time. It helps if you are thick skinned, due to the fact that you will be declined on your offer again and again. While you don't necessarily have to possess these characteristics, it does help if you have an outgoing personality and are willing to put yourself out there.
Sales jobs are everywhere, in every industry. Another benefit of this type of work is that with little experience, you can move from one company to another and demand more money. With as little as two years of experience, you can command a higher base salary, and bigger commissions as well. Your schedule is more flexible, you will likely do a bit of traveling, and you are basically on your own a great deal of the time. Perfect for those who are not suited to a 9 to 5 office job.
One major attraction to sales jobs is that fact that in many cases, the sky is the limit in regards to how much money you can make. If you are an expert at selling, you can literally write your own paycheck. Those who are successful at selling often make ridiculous amounts of money, and if you enjoy your work it sometimes seems to come easily.
There are a few negatives with sales jobs as well, and you should be aware of these before you determine if sales is right for you.
• There will be times when pay is inconsistent; one week you may make a bundle of money, the next may be sparse.
• You may find that you travel frequently, which may or may not be a problem for you. Often, parents or those with family at home would rather not be on the road a great deal of the time.
• You must be self disciplined. It takes work to make sales, and if you cannot discipline yourself to get out there and do what it takes, you are probably not suited for this type of work.
All in all, sales jobs are some of the best as far as stability. Even if you don't stay with one company very long, there are always openings for great sales people in every industry. This field is a winner now, and will be for the foreseeable future.
