To write a chronological resume, you must start with your most recent history first. You do not want that job at a fast food restaurant that you worked at in high school to be listed first. Your last position is the most important because it has more relevance to the position you are applying for now. Make sure that you include a brief paragraph or list of the duties that you completed in each job in your work history. This is going to help the recruiters to see if you fit into the position you are applying for.
• The Targeted Resume – This résumé is becoming more and more popular especially with job positions that require specific training or work history. A targeted resume is basically set up to highlight any schooling, training or work history that pertains exactly to the position that you are applying for. All professionals should have a resume that is targeted to their specific profession when applying for any jobs that are in their specific genre.
When writing a professional resume, make sure that you highlight only those aspects of your life that would be directly related to the position you are applying for. Do not put in that job at the fast food resume at all on this resume if it is not the same genre of work that you are applying for. Use bullet points to highlight strengths and duties that you performed or offered in your past positions.
